Trading practice · Forex replay
Practice forex decisions one revealed minute at a time
DayTradeDrill turns historical market data into a replay workspace for simulated practice. Choose an available forex dataset, move through the price sequence, manage simulated orders, and review what happened.
Method
A practical replay session
Choose data you can inspect
Open Start Training and review the available forex instruments and date ranges in the session selector. Choose a preset or import your own one-minute file if it passes the on-screen checks.
Set the experiment before you start
Choose starting capital, trading costs and training options before revealing the session. Keep these assumptions fixed when comparing decisions across runs.
Reveal the market gradually
Play, pause, advance by event or move to the end of a minute. Change chart layout or timeframe as needed; the charts share replay progress and expose only the data revealed so far.
Manage simulated orders, then review
Practice entries, exits and order management in the workspace. End the session to review net P&L, costs, equity and drawdown curves, completed trades and fills. Treat the report as feedback on this run.
What should you verify before using a replay session as evidence?
Preset coverage changes with the data available in the product. The session selector is the source of truth for the current instrument and date range.
- Built-in presets currently cover the forex data listed in the selector; they do not promise every pair or historical period.
- The importer can accept other-market minute data when it passes the file checks, but that does not provide official presets or a complete exchange calendar.
- Imported custom ranges are treated as continuous UTC data. Trading sessions and market holidays are not inferred automatically.
Understand what the replay engine simulates
The replay is designed for deliberate practice with historical bars. It does not reproduce every event from a live venue.
- Intraminute prices follow a synthetic path generated from one-minute OHLC values.
- Orders execute against simulated price events. A historical touch is not a promise that a live broker would have filled an order.
- Set the available spread, fee and slippage assumptions deliberately; a session cannot model market impact or every broker rule.
Use the review as a learning record
The review can show net P&L, costs, equity and drawdown curves, win rate, completed trades and fill details. Metrics with no supporting trades or data can appear as an empty state or a dash.
- Net P&L includes the costs configured for that session.
- If you sign in and the save succeeds, the review can be reopened from Dashboard History.
- A single replay is not an investment report, a forecast, or evidence that the same result will occur live.
Scope
Limits to keep in view
- No live broker connection or real order placement.
- One-minute OHLC input with a synthetic intraminute path, not tick-by-tick market replay.
- Available presets and dates are the ones listed in the session selector at the time you practice.
- Simulated fills and performance do not guarantee live fills, profitability or future results.
