Trading practice · Blind replay

Blind practice hides labels, not every market clue

Blind practice reduces the influence of identifiers such as the instrument name and actual date while you work through a replay. Price action remains visible, so the mode can help build process discipline but cannot make a session unknowable.

Method

Use blind replay as a training routine

  1. Choose a validated window

In the session selector, choose a random validated window when you want its date withheld until the session starts. Random selection is a practice option, not a secure draw.

  2. Enable blind practice before starting

Set the blind option in Training settings before the replay begins. Check the product notice for which labels and metadata are hidden or mapped.

  3. Record the decision while it is made

Pause or step through revealed prices and write down the setup, action or no-trade, and your reason before advancing. Use price-based indicators if they are part of your rule, while recognizing they do not remove visual clues.

  4. Review only what the mode is designed to test

Compare decisions after the session. A Strategy Replay running during blind practice is limited to the events already revealed; after the session ends, the full scenario can be tested.

What does blind practice hide or map?

Blind rules reduce easy identity cues from the replay workspace rather than encrypting the underlying market history.

  • The interface is intended to hide or map identifiers such as the instrument name and actual date.
  • Strategy metadata, including symbol and time values, can be mapped; scripts that rely on date or time may behave differently.
  • If random window selection is enabled, a validated range is selected without displaying its date in advance.

Prices can still reveal context

The chart must show market prices for you to practice. Those prices and indicators calculated from them remain visible, so a distinctive move may be recognizable.

  • Blind mode is not browser-data protection, encryption, proctoring, or a competition anti-cheat system.
  • It cannot stop a participant from searching outside sources, inspecting their own browser, or recognizing a familiar price pattern.
  • Treat the mode as a way to reduce date and instrument priming, not proof that a test is fully blinded.

Strategy tests are limited during an active blind session

Strategy Replay requires Pro and uses its own ledger, separate from manual trades. In a blind session that is still running, a full test is restricted to the revealed event prefix.

  • Live mode follows the replay event by event.
  • While the blind replay is active, future unrevealed events should not be included in the strategy test.
  • After the session ends, the full scenario can be tested; review run status and completeness before interpreting any result.

Scope

Blind mode is a practice aid

  • Instrument/date labels can be hidden or mapped, while chart prices and price-based indicators remain visible.
  • Recognizable price patterns may reveal the market or period.
  • The mode does not protect the browser from inspection and is not anti-cheat or secure randomization.
  • Time-dependent Pine scripts may behave differently when metadata is mapped.
  • In-progress strategy testing is limited to revealed events; completed sessions allow the full test.
